Let's Go Bulldogs!!
The 2026 football season officially kicked off Friday night with the varsity Bulldogs traveling to Llano. It was a fantastic display of classic Friday Night Lights as two determined teams battled it out. Unfortunately, the Dawgs came up just short to the Jackets who scored a late touchdown to capture the 37-31 win. The Burnet community showed up for their Dawgs. The student section was loud and proud, as was the cheerleaders, band, and Highlandettes. It was a fun atmosphere to open the season. There were numerous big hits and big plays like the one below made by Jaden Mercer.

A Week Full of Exciting Play for the Dawgs and Lady Dawgs
The varsity Lady Dawgs earned a hard-fought five set win over Johnson City on Tuesday. At left Marisa Porter sets the ball for Burnet. She is racking up big stats this season and doing a great job on the court. Below, Ethan Sanchez was a beast to be reckoned with in Llano on both sides of the ball. Both of these athletes are sophomores contributing to their varsity teams.
Be sure to check out this week's schedule below for a listing of where you can find the Dawgs and Lady Dawgs this week. Volleyball will be home on Tuesday followed by football's home opener on Friday. Cross Country will also be close to home this week with races at the Floyd Farms Invitational.
